Thanks for posting this. We had a lot of fun in those days. Thanks for the kind words. And yes, I don't think these recordings were very representative of us.. but we didn't know what we were dong in the studio and I don't believe the engineer/producer had ever seen us live. ..ah well...

The Aviators were an extremely popular Denver new wave band in the eighties that played at the Mercury Cafe in Capital Hill and Herman's Hideway on So. Broadway. They filled these venues. Shepherd was the lead singer's first name. Their music may be more impactful hearing it live. The lyrics and instrumentals were hypnotic and dancing to them could put me in a trance and take me out of depressions, especially Industrial Soul and Soft Light,. They both end with a wall of music, that again, may not be as discernible here though I still love hearing them. The Aviators left a void in the 'new wave space' when they left for California, and their musical style changed to punk with a completely different style/sound. I was the petite dark-haired girl that attended almost every performance. I cherished those experiences, and the hypnotic effect their music had. I think they could have expanded upon the hypnotic psychological elements and realized more commercial success... Shepherd had a strong resonant voice... there is a cool progression... all of it was brilliant.

Twenty years ago, I chanced upon this album by accident or destiny, at a time in my life where I felt like a leaf blown around by the wind, navigating a graduate program in a big city far away from my family's small town farm. It hit the spot. Fact is that Mr Tizer had his phone number written down on the CD, so I called this inspired genius and spoke with him for a long time about his future musical goals.
